Roots and Mystic Dragon by Appalachian Mountain Cidery

Happy Thursday, cider heads.

It’s been a whirlwind at work but I *think* I am officially doing sales full time for work.

Finally had some time with no plans later today so I got to both of my Appalachian Mountain Cidery cans my dear friend Kristina (@southernbeerbabe) gave me back in October.

00100dPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20180426153421196_COVERI didn’t know much about AMC other than they are from Boone, NC. They operate under the name Appalachian Mountain Brewery and it’s an even split of cider and beer. They do a lot of philanthropy for the environment, community, and sustainability. Their head fermenter is a graduate from Appalachian State University and offer collaborations and internships to students.

Putting both reviews of the ciders I was gifted by Kristina: Roots and Mystic Dragon. Both cans have gorgeous artwork and 148 calories with no added sugar!

Described as: Apple based cider infused with Ginger and Turmeric for a refreshing twist!

mvimg_20180426_153557.jpgThis is defiantly one of the weirdest combo flavors of cider I have ever had. And, no joke, I just had some ginger turmeric tea. It pours this lovely yellow color complimented by this lovely ginger smell. The taste is very gingery, bubbly and finishes with a smooth, turmeric finish. Roots was very gingery and the more you sipped it, the more your heart burned up.

Described as: This apple based cider is infused with green tea, rhubarb, and strawberries to give it a mysterious sweetness while drying it out slightly. Its a perfect compliment to spicy foods.

00100dPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20180426162401858_COVERVery easy drinking cider with lots of bubbles. The aroma is full of berries and tea. The first taste was my favorite, it was juicy and smooth with only the sweetness from the berried and rhubarb. The rhubarb doesn’t really kick in until the end. The flavor is great but I was kind of over the berries at the end. The tea is the underrated star of this cider.
